Insurance Coverage

We are contracted with most major health insurance plans (we do not have any contracts with HMO plans, however).  Please contact our office and we will help to verify your insurance benefits and coverages.

Direct Access

What is Direct Access?  It is the ability for you to directly refer yourself to physical therapy.  This allows you to make an appointment directly with our clinic without the extra step of seeing a physician.  Your physical therapist can then evaluate you under your insurance benefits and offer treatment right away.  Early intervention of physical therapy can allow you to have a faster recovery and a return to your normal activities.  Did you know that most insurance plans allow for "Direct Access" in California?  Contact us to see how we can help get you back to living life to the fullest as quickly as possible.

FAQs

  1. How long is each therapy session? Your initial session with us will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Each follow up visit will be roughly 45-60 minutes, based on your needs identified during the evaluation.
  2. Isn't physical therapy painful?  At Crest Physical Therapy and Wellness we do not believe in the "No Pain, No Gain" mantra.  You may have some discomfort with manual techniques used to loosen joints or soft tissue, but it should never be painful.
  3. How many visits will I need to recover?  There are never two injuries that are the same, so we treat each individual uniquely.  During your evaluation, your therapist will work closely with you to identify your goals and decide what will be needed to achieve those goals.  This will help to develop a plan on how we can get you back to your normal lifestyle as fast as possible.
  4. What should I wear to visits?  You should wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow your therapist to expose the injured area appropriately to provide the necessary treatment to help you reach your goals.
  5. Will I be sore after treatment sessions?  You should not be in "pain" after treatment sessions, as our goal is to restore function without aggravating the injury.
  6. Do I need a prescription ?  Most insurances allow for direct access, which doesn't require a prescription for the initial treatment of your injury.  You may however, need to obtain a prescription for therapy, if your injury requires longer treatment time than allowed for direct access (30-40 days), or if your insurance plan doesn't allow for direct access.  Contact us and we can help you determine what is needed.
  7. Do I need to go to the clinic that is on the prescription?  NO!  A prescription for physical therapy is valid at any outpatient clinic.  This means you have the ability to choose the best facility to take care of your needs.
